E07: what it takes to build a disruptive business in Africa. (Part 2)

Do you understand the fundamentals of business? Yes, even where you are! Do you understand the fundamentals of business? If you do not, you will never succeed in business (Until and unless you learn them). This is true in Africa, in America, Europa, and everywhere in the world.

I See some shitty entrepreneurs opening bold business without a single knowledge about how business works. They think that they will just hire people who know. And those people will do the work. What an error. I’m pleading with you never do that Because, it simply don’t work. You have to know at least the fundamentals of business.

The best business education I know is from a man called Josh Kaufman. The man is just a genius. If you want to understand the fundamentals of business, I urge you to read his bestselling book “the personal MBA”. That book is the only business book I recommend to anyone who want to do business. They are not two of them. Just that one.

Let me give you in an awful summary what Josh Kaufman says in his book. A business is a master process that has five parts: Value production (this is want you are selling), Marketing (this is the way you attract prospects); sale (this is the way you actually turn those prospects into paying clients), value delivery (it’s how you channel what people have bought back to them) and finance (this is where you count money). That’s it. just five systems, to set up.

Now if you don’t understand how to set up these systems, I can help. I have done it for myself and for countless others. If you do understand how these systems work, you are in good shape, you can actually succeed in business.

If you add the disruptive component on the equation, I will urge you to read ERIC REES “Lean Startup” and Peter Thiel “ZERO to ONE”. Armed with just the knowledge in these books, you can set up any kind of disruptive business.

Knowing what a business is, how it works, and having a solid network is not enough to set up a disruptive business in Africa, you also have to have an open mind. What does that mean? The answer will be given to you in the next episode.

Remember, don’t be a pussy. Get up and make money in Africa.
